CONTEST SCHEDULE
In an effort to relieve contest fatigue for agents, plus with my future editing schedule and book release ahead for me, I’m making some changes to my contests. There won’t be a Pitch Madness this September. Instead, I’m moving Pitch Wars into its spot and adding more mentors. Pitch Madness will be held every year in March. And there will be a quarterly #PitMad throughout the year. And hopefully, I’ll be less crazy.
So here’s the schedule for the upcoming year…
2014
August 4: Pitch Wars Mentor Bio Blog Hop
August 18: Writers submit applications to mentors for Pitch Wars
August 18 – September 2: Pitch Wars mentors review applications and choose a writer to mentor (along with one alternate).
September 3: Pitch War mentees are announced.
September 3 – October 31: Mentors work with their team.

You are organised!
I’ll keep this list somewhere easy to find, and update on my blog as your comps come closer to the date 🙂 And your #Pitchmadness & #Pitmad will be fully over by the time I start #NestPitch 2015 😉

For us newbies out there … as the dates grow closer, will you also be posting how to participate? For instance, what the blog hop is, how/where to submit applications? This might be a dumb question but I really want to participate so I had to ask!

Look for all the details posting on August 4. It will have the information about the blog hop and how what you’ll need to submit on August 18.

Pitch Wars ... the mentor list! - Brenda Drake | Brenda Drake · June 22, 2014 at 8:32 pm
[…] What is Pitch Wars, you ask? Pitch Wars is a contest where published/agented authors, editors, or industry interns choose one writer each, read their entire manuscript, and offer suggestions to shine it up for agents. The mentors also critique the writer’s pitch to get it ready for the agent round. Mentors also pick one alternate each in case their writer drops out of the contest. Writers send applications (query and first chapter of manuscript) to their four mentor choices that best fit their work. The mentors then read all their applications and choose the writer they want to mentor for two months. Then we hold an agent round with over a dozen (sometimes close to twenty) agents making requests.
