Guess what?

Trick or Treat with Agents is happening again this year! I seriously can’t wait to see what costumes our agents pick to hide behind.

And if you have no idea what the heck I’m talking about…Trick or Treat with Agents is a Halloween themed pitch contest I came up with last year. It was seriously so much fun that Kimberly Chase wrangled me and Dannie Morin into doing it again with me this year. (

All of the details on how to participate are lined out below. To make things as stress free as possible there will be a 12 hour window to email your pitches in. Plenty of time! And if you’re unsure of how to answer Questions 1 and 2 you can always look at our picks from last year for an example.

Contest is open to MG,YA, NA, and Adult. (No Erotica or Memoirs)

Be sure to follow us on Twitter for live updates, and of course, our blogs. We’ll also have a blog post soon introducing our costumed agents and what they are looking for….

PLEASE ANSWER QUESTIONS 1 AND 2 IN 2 SENTENCES OR LESS. THANKS!

Sounds cool! Now I just have to figure out what costumed character my MC likes. 😀

There will be some unique ones!

Thank you, this one was created by Kimberly Chase and she asked me to be one of the co-hosts. I love Halloween!

This sounds like so much fun!

Hi! This sounds fun! Does the MS have to be completely finished?

    Thanks!

      Rae Chang · October 22, 2013 at 12:50 am

I (Brenda’s blog assistant – Hi!) would highly recommend that it be finished. These agents will be asking for both partials and fulls, so you don’t want to disappoint them by only having part of the MS done.

I know it’s super exciting, but PitchWars is coming up as well as AuthoressAnon’s Baker’s Dozen contest. A better use of your time would be to finish and polish the ms you’re working on in time for those! That way, your first impression on these agents will be a positive one!

      Good luck, whatever you decide!

Hi Brenda–nice looking blog. I love what you’ve done with it.

I just sent my #AgentTreat And in my horror, saw my first paragraph was clipped. I resent my submission with the correction.

So much excitement, guess I got sloppy. Is this all right? What should I do? AND thank you SO much for the fun contest! 😀

    Brenda Drake · October 22, 2013 at 10:37 am

Yes, this is okay. No worries, and good luck!

Question: my MS is dual-POV (i.e., there are two MCs). How should I go about answering #1? Thanks.

    Brenda Drake · October 22, 2013 at 11:49 am

You could have them go as costumed couple or just choose one of the MCs. Make sure to keep questions 1 and 2 two sentences or less.
