Welcome to YA Scavenger Hunt!

Hello! I’m Brenda Drake, your hostess for this leg of the hunt.

Brenda Drake Author Photo32About Me

I’m addicted to Gold Fish crackers.

My favorite color is red. But I must say that since seeing the THIEF OF LIES book cover, purple is changing my mind.

I have two cats and a ferret.

I have a legit obsession for Tobias James!

You are currently hunting on …

Looking for my exclusive bonus content? You’ll have to keep searching. Also, don’t forget to enter my extra giveaway at the bottom of this post.

Somewhere on this blog hop, I’ve hidden a playlist for THIEF OF LIES (Library Jumpers Book 1). Before you go looking for it, check out the amazing author I’m hosting.

But, first, a few rules.

This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes! At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online until April 3rd at noon PST!

Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are NINE contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the GOLD TEAM–but there is also a red team, an orange team, a blue team, a green team, a teal team, a purple team, a silver team, and a pink team for a chance to win a whole different set of books! If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.

SCAVENGER HUNT PUZZLE

Directions: Below, you’ll notice that I’ve listed my favorite number. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on the gold team, and then add them up (don’t worry, you can use a calculator!).

Entry Form: Once you’ve added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.

Rules: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by April 3rd, at noon Pacific Time. Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.

Now that all the technical stuff is out of the way, I’ll introduce the author I am hosting on this hunt.

Amalie-Headshot1

Today, I’m crazy excited to be hosting AMALIE HOWARD  on my website for the YA Scavenger Hunt!

Amalie grew up on a small Caribbean island where she spent most of her childhood with her nose buried in a book or running around barefoot, shimmying up mango trees and dreaming of adventure. Twenty-two countries, surfing with sharks, and several tattoos later, she has traded in bungee jumping in China for writing the adventures she imagines instead. She isn’t entirely convinced which takes more guts.

She is the award-winning IndieNext author of Alpha Goddess, The Aquarathi series, The Riven Chronicles series, and the Cruentus Curse series. Her novels have been critically acclaimed by Kirkus, PW, VOYA, and Booklist, and her debut novel, Bloodspell, was a #1 Amazon bestseller and a Seventeen Magazine Summer Read. She currently resides in Colorado with her husband and three children. Visit her at www.amaliehoward.com.

The book Amalie is showcasing in the YA Scavenger Hunt this season is THE FALLEN PRINCE. Here’s a little something about this amazing novel …

FallenPrince_cover

Riven has fought for a hard-won peace in her world, and has come to shaky terms with who and what she is—a human with cyborg DNA. Now that the rightful ruler of Neospes has been reinstated, Riven is on the hunt for her father in the Otherworld to bring him to justice for his crimes against her people.

But when she receives an unwelcome visit from two former allies, she knows that trouble is brewing once again in Neospes. The army has been decimated and there are precious few left to fight this mysterious new threat.

To muster a first line of defense, her people need help from the one person Riven loathes most—her father. But what he wants in return is her complete surrender.

And now Riven must choose: save Neospes or save herself.

Add it on Goodreads!

EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

And here’s Amalie to tell you about THE FALLEN PRINCE Playlist …

As part of my writing process, I create a playlist for every book that I write. I usually pick out a few of the songs beforehand when I have a budding idea for a story, but the entire playlist is a work in progress as the story develops. For me, the right piece of music can make a scene flow magically, whether it’s a romantic scene or an action sequence. Sometimes, I’ll have a certain song on repeat depending on the scene I’m writing. Most of the music in THE FALLEN PRINCE is dubstep and electronic with a couple pieces of alternative thrown in there. For me, the futuristic bass tones of dubstep really fit the parallel universe and tech-heavy feel of this world.

Hope you enjoy!

*** Brenda here. If you subtract one of the songs from Amalie’s list, you’d get my favorite number.***
