It’s not a war without ninjas, right? Well, we’ve just added some into the fray. We’re adding six ninja coaches! They’re going to sneak around the contest folders to find a writer to mentor. How great it that? Six more writers will have an opportunity to work with these aMAZing authors/industry interns/editors.

I know you’re just going to skip here anyway, so here are your ninja mentors…

     Elizabeth Penney
    (Adult)
Elizabeth is repped by Kae Tienstra for her historical mystery series set in the 1890s. In addition, she’s got a historical YA and contemporary thriller YA under consideration. Her credits include a short story in a NH Pulp Fiction anthology, the Boston Globe, and a local history published by Arcadia. You can read more about Elizabeth on her blog Penmad.
    Suzanne Palmieri
    (Adult)
Suzanne Palmieri (AKA Suzanne Hayes) is the author of The Witch of Little Italy (Saint Martin’s Press/Griffin March 26, 2013) and co-author (as Suzanne Hayes) of I’ll Be Seeing You (Mira Books, June 2013). Her Literary Agent is Anne Bohner of Pen and Ink Literary, and what an agent she is! She sold four of  Suzanne’s books to two big six publishing houses all on one magical day. The Witch of Little Italy has sold internationally to Italy and Brazil and has sold audio rights as well. I’ll Be Seeing You has sold to Italy and France (and the UK). Her favorite authors are Stephen King, Alice Hoffman, Anne Rice, and well… all of them, really. She’s an AVID reader and a champion to all upcoming writers, because, well, she’s been there. Check out Suzanne’s blog here for more details.

     Susan Spann
    (Adult)

Susan’s interest in Japanese history, martial arts, and mystery inspired her to write the Shinobi Mystery series (Thomas Dunne Books, 2013) featuring Hiro Hattori, a sixteenth-century ninja who brings murderers to justice with the help of Father Mateo, a Portuguese Jesuit priest. You can find out more about Susan on her blog here.
    Brent Taylor
     Brent Taylor
    (Middle Grade)

Brent’s an editor (when I need a smart young perspective he’s the one) for Teen Eyes Editorial, and has been a children’s and YA specialist intern at a New York-based literary agency since April 2011. His essays have appeared in School Library Journal and VOYA. He is a contributing writer at the Lambda Literary Foundation, and presented the 2012 Children’s and Young Adult Award at the Lammy’s in New York. Check out his blog here.
     Picture
     Danielle Ellison
    (YA – NA)
Danielle loves hearing new stories about people and places. This is probably why Danielle has nomadic tendencies and has had more addresses than years she’s been alive. With so many stories to hear and places to go, Danielle really wishes she had a TARDIS—and a knight, because everyone needs a knight. Her first novel comes out in 2014, and sadly there are no knights or time travelling machines. But there is a race against time and two hot boys, so it’s okay with her. Danielle is also a Senior Editor at Spencer Hill Press and Spencer Hill Contemporary. Read more on her blog here.
     Sarah Nicolas
    Sarah Nicolas
    (YA)
Sarah’s “Thursday” on the YA Rebels, a contributor at YAtopia, and an assistant publicist at Entangled Publishing. Sarah believes that some boys are worth trusting, all girls have power, and dragons are people too. I’ve read her stuff, and she rocks! You can read more about Sarah on her blog here.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for doing this. This is such an awesome opportunity and I’m so grateful to all the writers/mentors participating!!

    Annie McMahon · November 30, 2012 at 8:26 am

Now this is something worth tweeting about! In this kind of contest, everyone wins, to my opinion. Great networking opportunity. Thanks for all the awesomeness!

ooohhh- you spiced up the mix with more mentors! I love this writing community!

Just sent in my apps- and wanted to thank you formally for doing this- I am very excited.
    Cheers!

    Giora · November 30, 2012 at 12:31 pm

Thanks again for doing this contest and many others. So far I submitted to only one mentor of Pitch Wars, because she was the only one with a good fit. Can I submit to one of the extra six mentors that you added?

      Brenda Drake · November 30, 2012 at 12:35 pm

      Yes, you may. 😉

    Lynn Lovegreen · November 30, 2012 at 5:01 pm

Thanks for the great opportunity. I’m getting my apps ready! Looks like Heather Webb’s blog is down right now. 🙁

    Emmie Mears · December 1, 2012 at 9:01 pm

Thanks for running another great contest.

Quick question: Is the deadline, Dec 5th at 8 PM or 8 AM? The original posts had PM and I just noticed the second one, two weeks after, changed to pm. As I’m up at 2, trying to finish my revisions in time…I’m hoping it’s pm 🙂

    Brenda Drake · December 3, 2012 at 8:53 am

It is 8PM EST (messed it up when I did the bio post) Sorry! 😉

      Eric Steinberg · December 3, 2012 at 11:16 am

Me, my tired body, and too patient wife, thank you!

      Eric Steinberg · December 4, 2012 at 6:16 am

Wanted to let you know the other coach’s blogs still have the 8 am deadline. You’re so generous with these contests, I hate bugging you, but didn’t want anyone to miss out.

    Gwen with a pen · December 3, 2012 at 10:45 am

Hi Brenda! Thank you for organizing this contest. Great motivation to get my query in order! I was wondering when/where/if the participating agents will be announced. Or, if they’re already listed somewhere, point me in the right direction. Thanks!

    Miriam Greystone · December 5, 2012 at 12:42 pm

Hi Brenda! I know that not everyone has been getting confirmation e-mails, but I wanted to make sure that you got all three of mine??? I didn’t get any confirmations, and now I’m nervous…. SO excited about this contest, by the way. (Thanks so much for setting it up!!)

      Brenda Drake · December 5, 2012 at 10:16 pm

We received all three of yours.

    Racheal Mcgillivary · December 6, 2012 at 11:44 pm

I feel stupid now. I thought the agents were the mentors, and submitted my material to them. I’m sorry. I know it’s too late to fix it, so I’ll just participate in the next one and you can throw my submissions out. Oops. 🙁
