Our mentors are editing, our mentees are revising, and we hope you’re making progress on your own manuscript! While we’re all working toward the Agent Showcase starting on February 6, 2019, we hope you’ll take a moment during your writing breaks and get to know our 2018 Pitch Wars Teams.

First up, we have . . .

Wendy, why did you choose Wanda?

She constructs a great scene and her hook had wide commercial appeal. Her protagonist had a lot of personality and heart, and the book transcended its genre and tackled some interesting issues with deep, complex character development.

Wanda, why did you choose to submit to Wendy?

After viewing her website, I fell in love with her dark and mysterious branding. I also discovered that we share a love for some of the same books.

Wendy, summarize Wanda’s book in 3 words.

Smart, sophisticated, suspenseful

Wanda, summarize your book in 3 words.

Dark, twisty, empowering

Wendy, tell us about yourself. Something we may not already know.

I have a Boston Terrier named Bug and he hates the windshield wipers, not being much used to after a life in Los Angeles.

Wanda, what do you hope to get out of the Pitch Wars experience?

Initially, my goal was to simply get my manuscript polished and ready for querying. But I’ve discovered so much more. Just three weeks into the Pitch Wars experience and I’ve met so many wonderful and generous people in the writing community. Starting with my mentor, Wendy. She has been a true angel, giving both her valuable time and her insightful wisdom. Other mentees in my Pitch Wars class have been a true delight to discuss issues and commiserate with on this journey. I am blessed to have been selected!

Wanda, tell us about yourself! What makes you and your manuscript unique?

I don’t consider myself all that unique but I have written a book about an extraordinary African-American woman who accomplishes something extraordinary against tough odds. She rescues other women, a tremendous feat in today’s environment of harassment and oppression of women and girls. I’ve written the type of book I’ve always wanted to read but have a hard time finding on store bookshelves — a psychological thriller with an African-American female protagonist who brings down the bad guys using her intellect. My hope is that this book resonates with both men and women who are concerned with the well-being and empowerment of women.

Check out Wendy’s upcoming release, HUNTING ANNABELLE …

Release Date: DECEMBER 18, 2018

Amazon | Indie Bound

Sean Suh is done with killing. After serving three years in a psychiatric prison, he’s determined to stay away from temptation. But he can’t resist Annabelle—beautiful, confident, incandescent Annabelle—who alone can see past the monster to the man inside. The man he’s desperately trying to be.

Then Annabelle disappears.

Sean is sure she’s been kidnapped—he witnessed her being taken firsthand—but the police are convinced that Sean himself is at the center of this crime. And he must admit, his illness has caused him to “lose time” before. What if there’s more to what happened than he’s able to remember?

Though haunted by the fear that it might be better for Annabelle if he never finds her, Sean can’t bring himself to let go of her without a fight. To save her, he’ll have to do more than confront his own demons… He’ll have to let them loose.

A chilling, deeply suspenseful page-turner set in the 1980s, Hunting Annabelle is a stunning debut that will leave you breathless to the very end.

Thank you for supporting our Pitch Wars Teams! The Agent Showcase is February 6 – 11, 2019, and our next #PitMad is December 6, 2018!
