Excerpt:

I strode across town, the muggy smell of exhaust overpowering my senses as I walked beside the traffic-lined street.  When I reached the intersection for the Daily Dose coffee shop a smile busted up my face. The hot chick waiting with me at the crosswalk was checking me out.

“Morning,” I said, but she only blushed in response.

As the lead singer of a rock band, I was used to attention, but this chick was on a different level. She wasn’t the panty throwing, sign my boob type. She had the polished, sexy librarian vibe. Totally out of my league. Women like her went for doctors or lawyers, not bar managers in glorified garage bands. Yet, she was eye-fucking the hell out of me.

“Nice out,” I said, cursing myself for the mediocre conversation topic.

“Hot,” she said. Her breathy voice bit the air as she rubbed her hand—wedding ring free—across her neck.

“Um, yeah. It is.” I flashed her a grin. As usual, the humidity was thick and hot. Sexy Librarian Chick made it hotter.

“Does that usually work?” she asked, giving me side-eye.

“Pretty much.” I admitted, figuring I didn’t stand a chance with her. A woman like her, all together and polished, oozed relationship, something I’d never done. Settling down with a woman, even one fine as fuck, wasn’t in the plan.
