PW Interviews

Our mentors are editing, our mentees are revising, and we hope you’re making progress on your own manuscript! While we’re all working toward the Agent Showcase on November 3rd-9th, we hope you’ll take a moment during your writing breaks and get to know our 2016 Pitch Wars Teams.

And now, we have . . .

Mentee: Why did you choose Dionne and Fiona?

Megan: I chose Fiona and Dionne for their love of writing and their respect for other writers. They want to help me achieve my vision for the book, which is awesome. They are incredibly genuine and real and so talented. I am humbled and honored to be working with them!

Mentor: Why did you choose Megan?

Fiona: THE GIRL YOU SEE is incredibly special, and it’s been a long time since I’ve seen an author blend two entirely different POVs with such clarity. One bold, upfront voice and another dreamy, light voice. The character POVs are so distinct, so real and so exquisite that it’s impossible not to tell them apart. Combined with tight prose, a killer plot and beautiful undertones and themes – well, who wouldn’t choose it?

Dionne: I was hooked from the first page, which was spooky, mysterious, and made it impossible not to turn to Ch. 2! The writing is so tight, the mixed POVs work perfectly, and the hook is major. You just have to know what’s next!

Mentee: Summarize your book in three words.

Megan: Mysterious, hopeful, textured.

Mentor: Summarize your mentee’s book in three words.

Fiona: Bold, dreamy, smart.

Dionne: Unique, Intriguing, Creepy

Mentee: Tell us about yourself. What makes you and your MS unique?

Megan: Writing my manuscript was an almost out-of-body experience. These characters and their voices came to me so clearly, and they wouldn’t let go. And when I read it now, it’s like someone else wrote it! While writing this manuscript, I really found my voice as a writer for the first time. It took me seven manuscripts to get here, and I’m so grateful for all the lessons my previous stories taught me.

Mentor: Tell us about yourself. Something we might not already know.

Fiona: I’m a bold traveler and have been to nearly 30 countries and soak up culture like a sponge. I’m also an avid animal supporter and can’t turn away a stray.

Dionne: I once met Nelson Mandela by accident, I played in a rock band for many years, and I recently inherited a kayak which is my new favorite toy.

Thank you for supporting our Pitch Wars Teams! And remember, there’s a #PitMad Twitter pitch party on September 8th.
