Our mentors are editing, our mentees are revising, and we hope you’re making progress on your own manuscript! While we’re all working toward the Agent Showcase starting on February 6, 2019, we hope you’ll take a moment during your writing breaks and get to know our 2018 Pitch Wars Teams.
Next up, we have . . .
Helen, why did you choose Ruby?
The first thing that attracted me to Ruby is her fantastic manuscript, CHOOSE YOU. It’s sexy and gripping yet fiercely feminist. I devoured this manuscript, and I want to see it on bookshelves and reading devices. Even so, when I contacted her about some major revisions, she was enthusiastic and communicated her willingness to work. She also has a really great blog that I might have scoured as I went through the decision-making process.
Ruby, why did you choose to submit to Helen?
Because her book, The Kiss Quotient, absolutely floored me. The chance to work with the person who wrote it was a dream I never thought I’d get to see come true.
Helen, summarize Ruby’s book in 3 words.
Dorkalicious, feminist, flaming-hot.
Ruby, summarize your book in 3 words.
Exec-intern gender bend.
Helen, tell us about yourselves. Something we may not already know.
I have a black belt in Taekwondo and used to compete at the collegiate level.
Ruby, what do you hope to get out of the Pitch Wars experience?
Just to be a better writer at the end of the day. I want to give my characters the story they deserve.
Ruby, tell us about yourself! What makes you and your manuscript unique?
I’m trying to challenge some gender norms and with an adorkable gamma hero and an outwardly hardened, but internally soft, heroine.
Check out Helen’s latest release, THE KISS QUOTIENT!
A heartwarming and refreshing debut novel that proves one thing: there’s not enough data in the world to predict what will make your heart tick. Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases–a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old. It doesn’t help that Stella has Asperger’s and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice–with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can’t afford to turn down Stella’s offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan–from foreplay to more-than-missionary position… Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but crave all of the other things he’s making her feel. Their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic… Available now on Amazon.Thank you for supporting our Pitch Wars Teams!
