Our mentors are editing, our mentees are revising, and we hope you’re making progress on your own manuscript! While we’re all working toward the Agent Showcase starting on February 6, 2019, we hope you’ll take a moment during your writing breaks and get to know our 2018 Pitch Wars Teams.

Abigail, why did you choose Rebecca?

Her story hooked me from the first line and never let me go!

Rebecca, why did you choose to submit to Abigail?

I almost didn’t submit to Abigail since she writes contemporary YA and I write speculative. But one of my comp titles was on her “favorites” list, so I decided to take a chance. I’m so glad I did! Her strengths match up exactly with my weaknesses, and she’s brought an entirely new perspective to the romance, characters, and relationships in my manuscript. She’s exactly what I needed.

Pirates and kissing

Abigail, tell us about yourself. Something we may not already know.

I would love to write a Fantasy YA someday so I’m learning as much from my mentee as she is from me!

Rebecca, what do you hope to get out of the Pitch Wars experience?

I want the quality of my manuscript to match the awesomeness of the story in my head, and thanks to Abigail, it’s on its way. I’m excited for the finished product to get into readers’ hands.

Rebecca, tell us about yourself! What makes you and your manuscript unique?

I have two indie dystopian & sci-fi series out already, but this project is different. Not only is it a completely different genre (YA fantasy), but Lane and her story hit me so forcefully that this project stole my heart. It explores a girl’s place in a man’s world, the meaning of loyalty and family, and that indescribable hunger to grasp the impossible. With kissing, of course. Never forget the kissing.

The First To Know book coverTO TELL OR NOT TO TELL?

Don’t miss the second gripping and heartfelt story from the author of If I Fix You! A girl’s plan to find her father’s birth family turns potentially devastating when the secret DNA test she has done reveals that she has a half brother her age she never knew about.
Dana Fields’s father never knew his parents. When Dana secretly does a DNA test for her dad, hoping to find him some distant relatives for his birthday, her entire world implodes. Instead of a few third cousins, Dana discovers a half brother her age whose very existence means her parents’ happy marriage is a lie.
Dana’s desire to know her half brother, Brandon, and the extent of her dad’s deception, clashes with her wish not to destroy her family. When she sees the opportunity to get to know Brandon through his cousin, the intense yet kind Chase, she takes it. But the more she finds out about Brandon, her father’s past and the irresistible guy who’ll never forgive her if he discovers the truth, the more she sees the inevitable fallout from her own lies. With her family crumbling around her, Dana must own up to her actions and find a way to heal the breach—for everyone—before they’re torn apart for good.

Thank you for supporting our Pitch Wars Teams! The Agent Showcase is February 6 – 11, 2019, and our next #PitMad is December 6, 2018!
