Our mentors are editing, our mentees are revising, and we hope you’re making progress on your own manuscript! While we’re all working toward the Agent Showcase starting on February 6, 2019, we hope you’ll take a moment during your writing breaks and get to know our 2018 Pitch Wars Teams.

First up, we have . . .

Ian, why did you choose Sarah?

I adore villain protagonists, and supervillain protagonists? Sign me up! Sarah’s book hooked me from the very first line. She crafted a rich, detailed world full of dystopian politics and superheroics, with a dash of cyberpunk. Toss in a plot full of twists and turns, larger than life heroes (and villains!) with very real and human failings, and some killer humor, and her book ticked all the boxes for me. I couldn’t not fall in love with it.

Sarah, why did you choose to submit to Ian?

I chose to submit to my mentor because I loved his writing style, his humor, and his overall personality. He’s the kind of person I want in my corner, and he has the talent and the tools to make me the best writer possible.

Ian, summarize Sarah’s book in 3 words.

Supervillain versus supervillainy

Sarah, summarize your book in 3 words.

Good is relative.

Ian, tell us about yourself. Something we may not already know.

I wanted to be a paleontologist up until junior year of high school. Adding dinosaurs to anything remains an instant way to grab my attention.

Sarah, what do you hope to get out of the Pitch Wars experience?

Paramount is that I want to become a better writer. Everything else hinges on that.

Sarah, tell us about yourself! What makes you and your manuscript unique?

In my manuscript, everyone is deeply flawed and deeply virtuous. And just when you think the most flawed person is the main character, your preconceptions get a check. And just when you think the most virtuous person is the main character, I start to laugh and laugh. And then you back away slowly, because you’ve realized what’s special about me: incipient madness.

Thank you for supporting our Pitch Wars Teams! The Agent Showcase is February 6 – 11, 2019, and our next #PitMad is March 7, 2019!
