Our mentors are editing, our mentees are revising, and we hope you’re making progress on your own manuscript! While we’re all working toward the Agent Showcase starting on February 6, 2019, we hope you’ll take a moment during your writing breaks and get to know our 2018 Pitch Wars Teams.

Next up, we have . . .

Jenna, why did you choose Jeff?

His book has a great concept, a fantastic main character, and I knew I could put it in student readers’ hands.

Jeff, why did you choose to submit to Jenna?

So many reasons, seriously. Her author’s page really pulled me in. When she spoke of what she was looking for I was like , Yep. Yep. That’s me. Check that box. Oooo. Yep. Then I went to her Twitter page and started reading. One thing Jenna does is post articles under the hashtag #storyidea. Giant spiderweb cloaks land in Aitoliko, Greece, was one of her recent ones. Yes!

It’s obvious Jenna is always looking for inspiration in her writing and is also willing to share those ideas with the world. How cool is that?

She also loves football (My story has an MC who is a High School football star) is a black belt (there are several hand-to-hand fight scenes in my book) and she retweets Chuck Wendig and Sam Sykes, possible the two most entertaining writers on Twitter (They had a movie made based on a twitter exchange!). I mean, come on, there was no way I wasn’t submitting to her.

We also share a similar world view, which isn’t always necessary, but it sure is nice. And I have since started reading her trilogy The Protector Project. I’m pretty sure Jenna is the perfect mentor for me.

Jenna, summarize Jeff’s book in 3 words.

Destiny Murder Football

Jeff, summarize your book in 3 words.

Murder, Love, Football

Jenna, tell us about yourself. Something we may not already know.

I was the captain of my Ultimate Frisbee team in college.

Jeff, what do you hope to get out of the Pitch Wars experience?

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to find an agent and eventually get a book deal, but I have already made several new friends and potential writing buddies. That, to me, has already made my Pitch Wars experience a success.

Jeff, tell us about yourself! What makes you and your manuscript unique?

That’s the hardest question yet. Not sure how I am unique other than that universal truth that each of us is a unique creation in our own right. I will say that I have written a book that only I could have written. Fifteen-year-old me would love this book.

EVERYTHING FOR THEIR FUTURE

After spending more time apart than either of them wanted, Dalin and Mara join forces to learn the ultimate secret of the Commonwealth of Planets, including revelations about the Mother Tree. While their quest shows them things neither wants to believe, the most important lesson is what it means to be a real partner; a true equal. When they discover everything they they thought they knew about their lives was more illusion than reality, the last battle they fight is both the end of the world they knew, and the beginning of their forever.
