Pitch Madness Mario Kart Edition
Rainbow Road
Today we’re excited to introduce the teams for Pitch Madness. Pitch Madness is a contest to win a request from one or more of the participating agents. I will have an agent introduction post up soon. For those who don’t know about Pitch Madness, click here for THE OFFICIAL RULES.
Pitch Madness will be on four blogs and each blog host will have a co-host helping them choose their top 15 entries. Some will have a team of first readers who will check for formatting, grammar, and content and put their top picks through to the hosts. And the top 60 finalists will move onto the agent round!
Here are the hosting sites …
And now, introducing Team Rainbow Road hosted by Summer Heacock along with her co-host Dee Romito …
The second round readers searching the best entries for the Rainbow Road Team are . . .
Sarah Cannon: Despite my best efforts, I’m a hopeless wanderer, partly because I married a newsman. I’ve lived in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Jersey, Ohio, North Carolina, New York, and Indiana. I earned my B.S. of Ed. from Ohio University, and I’ve taught everyone from the earliest readers to college students who need writing help. I homeschool my three kids, and tutor part time for a national franchise. I writes all kinds of speculative fiction for young people, inspired by everything from Browncoats to Dutch folklore to TED Talks. I live in a comfy old grey house, which delights me because it makes me think of Grey House in Susan Cooper’s Dark is Rising series. We’re in the only hilly part of this mid-western town. I am always happier surrounded by hills.
When I’m not writing or teaching, I grow food, knit, spin, geek out with my family, and sometimes even run on purpose.
Janet Johnson: My husband (a.k.a. Jedi Master Daddy) and I (a.k.a. Princess Mommy) are raising three energetic Jedi: Master London, Jedi Brandt, and Padowan Khyah. I have mastered the use of my purple light-saber (inherited from Mace Windoo himself), the art of identifying the bad guys (they drink prune juice, NOT water), and the ability of crafting bases and ships from scraps (aka legos).
In my spare time I write children’s books, translate French to English, and keep up with my blog. So yes, my laundry is probably waiting to be done.
Our Team Rainbow Road host and co-host will pick 15 finalists and post them on Summer Heacock’s blog, FIZZYGRRL.
Let’s see. I am a writer, a mom and a wife. I am relatively badass at all these things. You will notice I did not say housekeeper up there. I suck at that. Like, hard. I am a stay-at-home-mom to two incredible little tots. I am a wife to a computer ninja who is the skill behind all my web adventures. I am a writer of very strange characters that if I didn’t put word to paper, they would take over my brain, and who knows what would happen then. I write to SAVE LIVES, people.
When I am not donning my Super Mom/Wifey underoos, you will find me on Twitter. And I will most likely be talking about writing or boobs or slow-cookers or my pants falling down. Write what you know, yeah? I blog about navigating Twitterville and my many misadventures in the world. I write Women’s Fiction and dabble in YA when I’m feeling froggy for it. You will find my fluency in profanity present in ALL THESE THINGS.
I’m a total geek. I have a love of Jeremy Renner that stops just below restraining order. I am one cat away from starring in my own episode of Critter Hoarders. The love for candy I possess is deep, and it’s real. I collect owl things. My knack for accidental public nudity will haunt me forever. I giggle every time someone toots. And finally, I alternate between talking like a Disney cartoon character and swearing with a fucking flourish.
That’s me. Wait. Why are you running away?
You’ll see me around the web as Deanna or Dee, both of which get my attention. I’ve lived in Buffalo, NY for most of my life and I love it here. (There’s a lot more to this place than winter snow and it truly is The City of Good Neighbors.) I’ve had my share of travels around the world and short stints elsewhere, including a semester in London, a summer waitressing near the beach in North Carolina, and my first year of teaching in Atlanta.
I might have had a bit of a college addiction in my twenties, ending up with a degree in Travel & Transportation Management (minor in International Studies), a NYS teaching certificate in Elementary Education, and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and Reading. Now my focus is on writing and I do my best to share what I learn along the way.
I’m a mom, elementary teacher, freelance educational writer, and middle grade/young adult author represented by Uwe Stender. Although it’s quite possible I like variety (see travel and degrees above) and therefore also work on picture books and nonfiction for fun. I’m an active PTA parent, as Co-chair of Parents as Reading Partners (PARP), and am also Co-advisor of the Buffalo-Niagara Children’s Writer’s and Illustrators (BNCWI).
