UPDATE: We have winners!!!

Today’s coffee is a venti caramel latte. Have you noticed that I’m back to drinking yummy coffee? I’ve lost a lot of weight, and I’ve reached my first goal, so now I can have my beloved coffee close to the way I want it. I do use nonfat milk and sugar free flavor shots, though. Life is good.

And now, (SQUEE) to the magnificent Elana Johnson. If you were transported to another universe yesterday, you might have missed all the mentions of her book birthday around the blogosphere and Twitter. I’m buying three copies of her book POSSESSION and giving away two copies here on my blog. What about the third one you ask? It’s MINE. ALL mine. I’m so excited to read this book, my family is sick of hearing about it.
Why am I so excited about her book, you ask? Well, because it couldn’t have happened to a sweeter person. Elana is a huge supporter of other writers. When I had decided (several years ago) to come out of my author cave and reach out to other writers, she was the first to welcome me. I started my writing community journey by joining QueryTracker and posting my query and pages to the forums as Brenlee (cue avatar from QT here).
It was Elana who welcomed me. Elana who commented on my pages. Elana who followed and friended me right off when I started a blog. I’m not the only one she’s reached out to. I see her lovely mug everywhere, and I know it takes a lot of effort to be out there. I remember how I felt back then, scared and alone. It was Elana (though she might not know or remember me) who was there to start me out. Her comments on the QT forum helped me tackle my query. I also remember reading her query and pages on QueryTracker for POSSESSION, and it blew me away.

My CP told me about Elana J’s blog. I’ve looked at it and am a-freaking-mazed. It’s like the gold mine of writing knowledge. I read Possessions already hehe….on Pulse-it and loved it now I would like it in my hands so I can read it over and over again! :] Elana is a fantastic write.

I’m so excited to read this book! I found out about Elana’s amazing resource for writers, ‘From the Query to the Call’ before I realized that she was writing in one of my all time favourite genres, YA dystopia. I’d absolutely love to win a copy, but even if I don’t I’ll have to read it somehow.

What can I saw? Elana’s success story is amazing and inspiring, and all the hard work behind it is paying off. I really love hearing about how she reaches out to other writers and has been so supportive. It’s something that we truly appreciate when we first get our feet wet in the blogosphere. I think I’m about up to my ankles now (my blog was one month old yesterday!), and I’ll always remember those kind souls who welcomed me. So all that good karma Elana’s been sending out for so long has come full circle. Very cool! Oh, I’m dying to read Possession, and if I win, I think I’ll do a cartwheel or two!
